Art stuff in Austin!

Well, FunFunFunFest was JUST that: FUN FUN FUN!! SO MUCH thanks to SprATX for inviting me to paint all weekend & especially to all of YOU who came by to say "What up?!" to me & the other artists. It truly was a blast & my total pleasure to be there.

The finished mural will be at the SprATX gift shop/gallery for the EAST Art Tour this & next weekend if you want to get up close & personal with it. It's definitely up for sale if you want to liven up your backyard with a three-headed monster, so contact any of the bad asses at SprATX if you'd like to make an offer, yo!

So there are a few more local events that I'd love to tell you about which I'm lucky enough to be a part of:
First up is another ARTXPLOSION event at Mindzai Creative happening TOMORROW NIGHT! 

I'll have nine originals showing alongside some talented artists, as well as prints available for sale.  Here's a new 10"x 20" painting I did making it's debut at the show tooooo:

The high fivers at Mindzai are also using one of my pieces for the LIVE screen printing design, so all you have to do is bring a blank tee, hoodie, underwear…WHATEVER, & they'll make THIS image magically appear on it with a swipe of their hands!:

Obviously, only one item per person, but you can't beat a free screen printed design! There will also be complimentary beverages, live music & just all around great, social FUN!
Here's all the info such as artists, etc. for the event which will be 8-11pm TOMORROW(Friday, Nov. 14th) at Mindzai Creative on S. Lamar/Mary St.

THEN, on SUNDAY, Nov. 16th at Spider House Ballroom, will be the first annual HORROR FOR THE HOLIDAYS ART & GIFT BIZAAR! 

This cool event is being put on by Blood Over Texas & features vendors with creepy, horror-themed goodies that I know all of you love! You can find the complete list of who's gonna be there & all the other great things they have in store such as an Evil Santa Photo Booth, RAFFLES throughout the show for some great prizes, Austin Pets Alive donations & a lot lot more HERE. I'll be on hand with some original art, prints, shirts, buttons & whatever else I'm trying to get rid of. So swing by this FREE event on Sunday 12-7pm..

& finally, just a heads up that HOPS FOR HOPE will be happening on Sunday, November 23rd at Fair Market. I'll have eight original pieces showing as well as my ACL Fest mural will be up for silent auction. Just check out this AMAZING list of artists showing including the GIANT himself, Shepard Fairey. All the info you need is RIGHT HERE.

I'll be at Fun Fun Fun Fest here in Austin THIS weekend (Nov. 7-9) doing some LIVE art with other AMAZING Spratx artists! My right hand will be painting a 12 foot mural throughout the three days, so if you're going to the festival, PLEASE come say "Hi Hi Hi" to me & the Spratx family in between seeing some up & coming, unknown acts like Modest Mouse, Judas Priest, Yo La Tengo & others.

Icons of Horror: A Haunted Portrait Show

So October has passed as quickly as it came, & I'm already counting down the days til next Halloween! But if you're like me & try to enjoy Ocotber/Halloween year round with horror movies, candy & whatever else gives you that special Fall feeling, then you'll be stoked to know that an art show I was SO LUCKY to be a part of will be on exhibit til December & it's FILLED with your favorite monsters/slashers! That's right, Guzu Gallery had their opening of Icon's of Horror: A Haunted Portrait Show on Halloween night & it was a super spooky, fun time! With over 20 artists invited to participate in this haunting art show, the only restriction we had to follow was "Create a PORTRAIT of your favorite horror icon…"..that was it. With endless possibilities that I wish I could've spent forever creating, I settled on four slashers that are my favorites in the horror genre & were calling out to me to paint. Here are my four "FACES OF DEATH" pieces…all 8"x 10" watercolor/ink original paintings on gessoed wood panels:

These paintings are STILL available for purchase NOW at Guzu Gallery's webstore, so go make some new friends &, like me, ENJOY HALLOWEEN YEAR ROUND! [**UPDATE: These paintings are now available in my online store HERE!] If you're not wanting the originals, you can take home prints of each of these from my online store HERE.

I also made an altered, super limited edition of my "Monster MugShots" which you can ONLY get by visiting Guzu Gallery to get. My "DEATH ESTABLISHED" set is limited to ONLY 13 signed/numbered & introduces my newest "MugShot", SAM, from Trick 'r Treat fame:

So yeah, it's always a blast to be part of such an amazing show with amazinger artists who constantly inspire me with their skill. If you're in or around the Austin area, you MUST go see the Icon's of Horror exhibit which runs til Dec. 3rd.

So, BOTH weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival have come to a close & from what I've heard, it was a blast! I definitely had a blast painting a giant 12'x8' wall at the festival a few weeks ago & have absolutely LOVED all the photos that have swarmed my Instagram/Facebook/Twitter feed of people getting "hooked" on it! Here are ONLY A FEW of the amazing photos some of you took from ACL Fest with my fisherman art.
